Access keys
Auto Trader does not currently support Access keys, although this will be implemented in the future when we support full WCAG AAA guidelines and are Bobby AAA approved.
Standards compliance
All pages on this site are Bobby A approved, complying with level 1 of the Bobby guidelines. This is always a judgement call as not all accessibility features can be measured. Auto Trader has reviewed all the guidelines and believe that all pages are in compliance.
All pages on this site are WCAG A approved, complying wih all priority 1 and most of priority 2 guidelines of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Again, this is a judgement call; many guidelines are intentionally vague and cannot be tested automatically. Auto Trader has reviewed the guidelines and believes all pages are in compliance (please see point 6).
Most pages on this site validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional. A program can determine with 100 per cent accuracy whether a page is valid XHTML. For example, check the homepage for XHTML validity.
Most pages on this site use Valid CSS. A program can determine with 100 per cent accuracy whether a page is valid XHTML. For example, check the home page for CSS validity.
All pages on this site use structured semantic markup. H1 tags are used for main titles, H2 tags for subtitles. For example, on this page, JAWS users can skip to the next section within the accessibility statement by pressing ALT+INSERT+3.
Applications other than at the following address www.autotrader.co.uk may not be standards compliant, but are constantly under review and in the process of being updated for accessibility
Browser text-sizing tool
Most popular browsers feature a text resizing tool in the toolbar.
With this tool you can resize text on screen to a level you feel comfortable with. Just click on the icon, and select a new size.
This tool is also available in the menu of various browsers as follows:

Opera: View > Zoom
Netscape 6, 7, Mozilla: View > Text Zoom

Tab key
You can also use the Tab key on your keyboard to move between links on a page. A single press of Tab high-lights the next link, Shift+Tab high-lights the previous link.
Navigation aids
The tips are cross-referenced in several ways. You can browse the tips by person, by disability, by design principle, by assistive technology and by publishing tool.
The homepage and all other channel pages include a quick search box. Advanced search options are available on the advanced search pages for each vehicle search and channel.
Links
Many links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, unless the text of the link already fully describes the target (such as the headline of an article)
Links are written to make sense out of context
Images
All content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes.
Complex images include TITLE attributes or inline descriptions to explain the significance of each image to non-visual readers
Visual design
This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout
This site uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers
If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets, the content of each page is still readable
JAWS is a screen reader for Windows. A time-limited, downloadable demo is available

Lynx is a free text-only web browser for blind users with refreshable Braille displays
Links is a free text-only web browser for visual users with low bandwidth
Opera is a visual browser with many accessibility-related features, including text zooming, user stylesheets and image toggle. A free downloadable version is available. It is compatible with Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and several other operating systems.

Bobby is a free service to analyse web pages for compliance to accessibility guidelines. A full-featured commercial version is also available.
HTML Validator is a free service for checking web pages conform to published HTML standards
